The final touches are being made to Piccolo Coffee Roasters’ stall in preparation for their debut at The Fresh Market Warrnambool this Sunday.
Owner Jon Darcy said he had purpose-built some timber benches and would operate a fully functioning café from their marquee site at Pertobe Road.
“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to join other producers and to showcase what we do to marketgoers from this Sunday,” he said.
“It was important to me that our market stall was consistent with our brand and our café style, so I’ve been pretty busy preparing everything and we’re now ready for business.”
Jon said two coffee machines would be in operation, but people could also buy beans and quality coffee making equipment so they can make great Piccolo coffees at home.
“We’ll also be grinding to order and we enjoy talking to people about how they make coffee at home so that we can grind their beans to ensure optimal extraction,” he said.
Market manager Tania Ferris said Piccolo Coffee Roasters were a great fit for the market.
“The ethos of the market has always been, right from the start, to showcase local producers from right across the great south west,” she said.
“Piccolo have always been on my radar to come and join the market.
“I’m very conscious to not overflow the market – it’s about giving the producers the opportunity to have a good, worthwhile day. A space came up for a coffee provider and Piccolo was my first choice.”
Tania said she was excited to see the raw timber benches and the other design elements that would contribute to the Piccolo Coffee Roasters stall.
“Jon has done a fantastic job branding his product, keeping his product local and maintaining the clean, responsible and sustainable ethos of his coffee,” she said.
“I love the idea of people now being able to enjoy a local coffee, but also take those beans home with them – that’s what Fresh Market is all about.”
