Piccolo Coffee Roasters is celebrating a Sydney Royal Fine Food Show silver medal for its lighthouse coffee blend.

Owners Jon and Olivia Darcy bought the Warrnambool business six months ago and were pleasantly surprised to hear the latte blend result.

Mr Darcy said it was great for the business and he was continuously looking for ways to improve.

“We really want to see our beans in every small town around Warrnambool,” Mr Darcy said.

Green beans are sourced from Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, Brazil and Ethiopia and are roasted and blended on the premises. Mr Darcy recognised and thanked former owners Tim and Carmel Brady.

“We won it off the back of what they’d taught us. For us it’s confirmation we’re heading in the right direction, but also that we’re picking up where they left off,” he said.

“We’re taking Piccolo forward and making it more our own, as we put our name to more things.”
