Founded in 2009 by Tim and Carmel Brady, Piccolo Coffee Roasters became the way of life for Jon and Olivia Darcy in 2015 when they stepped out of the lives they once knew – Jon a builder and Olivia a school teacher. With their young family in toe, Jon and Olivia have developed and grown the business not only into a renowned Warrnambool café and roastery, but into a busy wholesaler working closely with cafes in Camperdown, Cobden, Port Campbell, Peterborough, Simpson, Portland, Ballarat and beyond.
At the heart of Piccolo Coffee Roasters is a commitment to ethically sourcing the best green coffee beans from across the world. All their beans are purchased directly from buyers who physically visit the coffee growing communities (many of which are disadvantaged) to make sure they are helping coffee farmers and families – not contributing to corporate abuse. By supporting and buying from community co-ops and fair-trade programs, Piccolo Coffee Roasters gives back to the hard working people who make the coffee-culture they so enjoy possible.
More than beans
While roasted beans are the foundation of Piccolo Coffee Roasters, Jon and Olivia are finding new and exciting ways to grow their businesses and appeal to more and more people. Their café is now well known for its breakfast and lunch options, with qualified staff freshly preparing a range of meal options as well as slices, cakes and cookies that are to die for. In late 2016, they began bottling their own cold brew nitro coffee and in mid-2017 Mr Darcy’s Fine Drinking Chocolate was launched. Piccolo Coffee Roaster stocks a massive range of home coffee accessories – all supported by friendly advice and expertise.
